Sinai Grand Safari Excursion, Desert Tour to St.Catherine & Colored CanyonThe Sinai Peninsula or Sinai is a triangular peninsula in Egypt which is about 60,000 km2 (23,000 sq mi). It lies between the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Red Sea to the south, and is the only part of Egyptian territory located in Asia as opposed to Africa. In addition to its formal name, Egyptians also refer to it affectionately as the “Land of Fayrouz”, based on the Ancient Egyptian “Dumafkat”, which has the same meaning. The peninsula is divided into two Egyptian governorates, and has a population of approximately 1.3 million people.World famous monastery apparently built on the site where Moses saw the burning bush. This is the oldest monastery in the world with a unique history and it is a world heritage site. Located towards the sum guitar strap locks mit of Mount Sinai at about 800 metres above sea level. The monastery is open from 8am – 12noon Monday – Thursday and Saturdays. (Closed on Fridays and Sundays).There is a twice daily private bus service from Sheikh Salem House to St Catherines at 8am and 4pm daily. The price is 45 egyptian pounds per person each way for the bus journey.The trip which let you discover the history of the oldest monastery and enjoy the beautiful colored canyon. Our tour guide pick up from hotel early morning, drive for approx. 2.30 hours, by Land Cruiser (4×4), visit this still active monastery situated at the foot of mount Sinai and home to the same order of monks who constructed it in the 4th Century. The Biblical legend, the Burning Bush, is situated within the confines of the monastery. Continue drive for approx. 1.20 hours into the desert.
